Clear Water

must first run fast
like you

it rushes, stumbles over boulders
tin cans rusted
detritus floats
under broken bridges
failed dams flood
your road
muddied
darkened, thick
stagnant, yet fertile
surprised by the lotus
then the flows downstream
swept clean
cleared,
until all things once hidden
by dark, churning
waters
are visible
in stillness.
